Application Information

Students may apply for university, college and departmental scholarships through one application. You can find the scholarship application once you logon to myState. Under the banner tab, select Financial Aid and Scholarships. The application is listed as Submit/Revise General Scholarship Application.

Freshmen-only scholarships: Priority date for application is December 1.

All other students: Scholarship application close date is March 1.

New freshmen and transfer students who need information should contact Cory Bailey. All other students should contact Lanna Miller, Office of Student Services at 662.325.9376.


Alpha Gamma Rho

Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at Mississippi State University is awarding a $1000 scholarship to any deserving man or woman who is planning to enroll at Mississippi State. Being a member or becoming a member is not required to be eligible for the scholarship. This scholarship is not awarded through CFR. Apply Online.

Arboriculture/Urban Forestry Memorial Scholarship

Funded by the Professional Arborist Association of Mississippi (PAAM) and the Mississippi Urban Forest Council. This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior forestry student pursuing an urban forestry concentration, with preference given to community college transfer students and those with an interest in tree care, urban forestry and arboriculture.

Avery Wood Memorial Scholarship

Co-funded by the Leflore County Hunting and Fishing Association and Drake Wildlife Systems. This scholarship is awarded to wildlife and fisheries students who express an interest in waterfowl, wetlands, and pursuing a career in the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Applicants should have a 2.5 minimum overall GPA and a 3.0 minimum GPA in his/her major courses, as well as submit two letters of recommendation on citizenship and leadership qualities.

Boyd Burrow Greater Jackson Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation Endowed Scholarship.

Established by the Greater Jackson Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in memory of Boyd Burrow, a long-time member and passionate turkey hunter, this scholarship is for sophomores, juniors, or seniors enrolled in the College of Forest Resources. Students must demonstrate acceptable academic achievement and show promise of an outstanding career in Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries or Forest Products.

Established in memory of Bynum L. Meeks. Candidates must be full time juniors or seniors in the Forest Management Option within the Department of Forestry or one of the following options within the Department of Forest Products: Wood Industry Management or Wood Materials Science. Students must have completed the summer field session and be a resident from one of the following counties: Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Madison, Pike, Walthall, Warren, and Wilkinson.

Clyde Patrick Wade Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in memory of conservationist Clyde Patrick "Pat" Wade by his family. Priority is given to Forestry or Wildlife and Fisheries students who are American citizens and are in their sophomore, junior or senior year of study. Selection is based on academic achievement, character, leadership, and work ethic. Preference will be given to students who have epilepsy or who are affected by other chronic medical conditions.

College of Forest Resources Dean's Scholar Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen students who exhibit academic achievement and outstanding performance in high school. Recipients of this scholarship must maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA and complete 30 academic hours each year.

Funded by Colonel Kenneth (K.D.) Johnson and Catherine B. Johnson, this scholarship is awarded to a student in the Forestry major who has demonstrated acceptable academic achievement and shows promise of an outstanding career in the forestry area. Established by the family and friends of Dan L. Preference is given to applicants with good character, financial need, and outstanding performance over GPA.

Delta Wildlife Annual Scholarship

Funded by Delta Wildlife, a conservation organization striving to improve wildlife habitat and the environment. Students must be permanent residents of Mississippi and reside in one of the following counties: Bolivar, Carroll, Coahoma, Desoto, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Panola, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica, Warren, Washington or Yazoo. Primary consideration will be give to Wildlife and Fisheries students and secondary consideration to Forestry students with a Wildlife Management option. Scholarship is awarded on basis of scholastic achievement, leadership, career specific activities and participation in professional clubs and chapters.

Funded by Elton R. and Patricia R. Coley. This scholarship is awarded to a forestry student pursuing a concentration in forest or wildlife management entering the Summer Field Program. Originally established as an annual scholarship by the company founder, James W. (Jim) Craig, this award is given to students who show promise of success in the forestry profession. Candidates must be full time students in their junior or senior year of study, and demonstrate academic achievement.

Funded by Forrest/Lamar County Forestry Association. This scholarship is awarded to a forestry student, with secondary consideration given to wildlife and fisheries majors, who is a resident of Forrest or Lamar counties and exhibits good moral character and a strong work ethic.

Preference is given to those with good character, need and strong performance over GPA.

Johnny Ray Deer Management Scholarship

Established by Mr. Johnny Ray. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate wildlife and fisheries students pursing a concentration in wildlife, fisheries, and aquaculture science who possess interest in experiential learning involving ecology and management of white-tailed deer (as demonstrated to faculty within the MSU Deer Ecology Lab). The applicant should have a 3.0 minimum GPA and submit at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member within the deer lab. In memory of Leo W. Seal, this scholarship is given to a student residing in Hancock, Harrison, Pearl or Stone Counties, Mississippi. Academic achievement, financial need, and personal character are factors considered in the selecting of recipients.

Funded by Dr. Bruce Leopold, a Sharp Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Executive Director of the Center for Resolving Human-Wildlife Conflicts at Mississippi State University. This scholarship is awarded to a transfer forestry student with a wildlife management concentration has completed the Summer Field Program.

Funded by Dr. Bruce Leopold, a Sharp Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Executive Director of the Center for Resolving Human-Wildlife Conflicts at Mississippi State University. This scholarship is awarded to junior level (at least 64 credit hours completed) transfer student who appreciates and participates in utilitarian uses (i.e. hunting, trapping) of wildlife.

Mississippi Chapter of the Association of Consulting Foresters of America, Inc., Scholarship

Funded by Mississippi Chapter of the Association of Consulting Foresters of America, Inc. This scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior forestry student with a 3.0 minimum GPA, good moral character, strong work ethic, and who show promise of an outstanding career in forestry. Consideration will be given to students affected by a chronic medical condition or who have overcome medical adversity, as well as those with a financial need.

Funded by the Mississippi Forestry Foundation. This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior student with a 2.5 minimum GPA, a 3.0 minimum GPA in courses within his/her major, and participation in extracurricular and community activities. Applicants must write an essay (400 words or less) on the topic "Why I am pursuing a Career in Forest Resources" and submit two letters of recommendation on citizenship and leadership qualities.

Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers' Association (MLMA) John L. Mabry Memorial Annual Scholarships

Mississippi Lumber Manufacturer's Association (MLMA) provides two scholarships in memory of John L. Mabry. These scholarships are awarded to one Forestry Management major and one Forest Products major with an emphasis on the forest products industry each year. Candidates must be full time students, have demonstrated academic achievement, be of good moral character, and have demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.

Awarded to a full time Wildlife and Fisheries major or a Forestry Wildlife Management Option major with a 3.00 grade point average on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

Molpus Woodlands Group Scholarship

Funded by the Molpus Woodlands Group, LLC. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming minority forestry student who is a resident of the Hinds or Madison County areas. This student must have a 2.0 minimum GPA and a minimum ACT score of 20. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of participation in high school clubs and programs, interest in pursuing a career in forest resources, openness to a summer internship with the Molpus Woodlands Group, and membership in the Society of American Foresters.

Polly Anderson Newsom Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Polly Anderson Newsom by her children; Fred, Polly, Petty, and David; her husband Roy, and many friends. Students from Amite and Pike County are given priority. Priority is also given to students in the Wildlife and Fisheries Department.

Rankin County Forestry Association Endowed Scholarship

Funded by the Rankin County Forestry Association. This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who participates in extracurricular and community activities, a 2.5 minimum overall GPA and 3.0 minimum GPA is his/her major courses. Preference is given to students from Rankin County or who have close ties to Rankin County. Applicants should submit a short statement describing their connection to Rankin County and why they would be a good candidate as well as two letters of recommendation on citizen and leadership qualities.

Scenic Homes-Dr. Richard M. Kaminski Scholarship in Waterfowl and Wetlands Conservation

Scenic Homes/Kaminski Scholars must be enrolled fulltime in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in wildlife and fisheries science from the College of Forest Resources. An MSU grade-point average of 3.0 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) and involvement in professional and leadership organizations in their field of study also are required. More information

Sharp Academic Merit Scholarship

Established through an endowment by the Kate Sharp family of Tishomingo County. Entering freshmen with an exceptional ACT or SAT score and an exceptional high school academic record are invited to apply for these scholarships. Awards are up to $12,000 for a four year program of study. The scholarships are limited to students enrolled in the Department of Forestry.
